Massa Organics is an integrated, diversified, family farm located along the Sacramento River in Glenn and Colusa Counties. Products include organic brown rice, organic roasted and raw almonds, organic almond butter and organic mandarins. In place of chemical inputs, the farm uses crop rotation, plants multispecies cover crops, applies compost, and encourages native vegetation in non-cultivated areas in order to increase biodiversity, improve soil health, increase fertility, and reduce pest and weed pressure. In addition, a 60-head flock of Dorper sheep is used to graze, fertilize and trample all areas of the farm. As part of ongoing research projects, Massa Organics has learned that their almonds contain more nutrients than conventional nuts and that their methods of rice production are "carbon-negative".
